Please explain how life bond and life barrier work together.
I treid convincing my guild mate that when you put life barrier on second it hurts you more then if you had put it on before life bond. For those that do not know it goes like thus
At 15 prot prayers for example life bond reduces the dmg that is redirected to you by 30 points. Meanwhile life barrier reduces dmg by 50%.
Ok lets start with 100 dmg done to say a bonded ele.
The ele with life bond first then life barrier goes like this 100dmg-50%=50-50%=25dmg, now life bond redirects 50% to the monk, thus the monk will take 50 dmg, but it will be ruduced by 30 points = 20 dmg to the monk.
Now the Ele with life barrier on first then bond goes like this
100dmg-50%=50-50%=25dmg, now the monk will take 50% of the damage, but since the life barrier made the damage 50 we cut that in half= 25 now the monk would take 25 dmg, but life bond will reduce that by 30 = 0dmg.
This I have proven ingame many times over, and my guild mate is being stubborn and tells me he knows how to monk and blah blah blah. Can anyone else support me on this?

I always bond first and use barrier as a "cover enchantmen" because if bond goes down, I will no longer gain energy as fast.
I usually dont take more than 10 when double bonded anyway, and I've always had another monk with me when I've done it.

I use blessed sig, sig of devotion, watchful spirit, essence bond, vital blessing, life attunement, life bond, life barrier. I cast from right to left, the left 3 enchantments are cover enchantments, I walk around the furnace with 2 degen, and I am fine. Balthazars spirit and life bond sound nice, but the warrior needs the cover enchantments more, espaicially when things get hairy.

I've never had any problems with doing an oro run in SF.
If you have a bad tank, then yeah they need a lot of attention.
Why Essence Bond? In my experience (again, in SF) the tank doesnt really need you to EB him, energy for YOU is more important (especially if you're maintaining all of those enchantments)

Bond 4 people, throw Balthazar's spirit on yourself - only.
You will gain energy every time any one of them takes damage - including direct hits against yourself.
To me, it's the obvious choice

Well there are some more factors to consider Beleg,
First I am an advocate of always putting Life Barrier first and then Life Bond second, from the specific example that you gave to lessen the damage received to the BONDER however, the damage reduction calculation that you gave does not always apply. What do I mean by this? Life Barrier will reduce ALL types of damage, meaning wands, staves, arrows, ie any weapon, also from most skills as well such as Lightning Orb, Fireball, Eviscerate, Signet of Judgement, Touch of Agony, etc. Degen from hexes or conditions is not considered damage so these do not apply. Life Bond, if you read carefully, will only reduce damage from an ATTACK. So then what is an ATTACK? An ATTACK is what I call physical damage, like from a wand or stave or from like Eviscerate, however, spell damage such as Lightning Orb or Vampric Gaze, meteor, fireball, etc will go straight through Life Bond and will not reduce nor will it redirect the damage at all and only Life Barrier will reduce the damage from these kinds of spells or skills. I tested this with a guildie against Hydras, which of course does fire based damage outside of Augury Rock and against ice imps outside of Marhan's Grotto. Now remeber that if you see damage reduction going on from these mobs it's not because of the spells they are using against the target that is bonded but rather they are physically hitting with you with a weapon which counts as an ATTACK.
Also, I would recommend Holy Veil or watchful spirit as cover enchantments as these will provide some benefit if they are removed while covering up your important enchantments.

My bonding build is as follows...
Barrier, Bond, Holy Veil, Balths, blessed, RoF, Mend Condition, Remove hex.
i cast barrier THEN bond on tank, then holy veil on him.
i then bond everyone else in group, and cast balthazars on myself.
if warrior gets enchant shattered, holy veil goes first. I notice that go down, i put it right back up again.
ive done great with guildie 5man runs, never tried pugs.

Would it be better to use Life Barrier or Bond on a pet that already has Symbiotic Bond on him?
